1. Who is eligible to participate?
Hilliard School District children who reside in the Bradley High School attendance areas, who are in 3rd thru 6th grades during the season. 2. How far do the teams travel for games? Hilliard participates in the Central Ohio Basketball Association league (COBA). The league consists of community teams around Columbus. Most games are around the Columbus outer-belt with a few teams such as Granville and Teays Valley. Some tournaments may require more travel and this is at the discretion of the coach, however the tournaments do not require hotel accommodations. 3. How many games do the teams play per season? About 20 games for the season. Games are generally scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays with two nights during the week for practices. Generally teams participate in three tournaments during the season. There is usually around Thanksgiving or Christmas, MLK in January, and end of season (mid February) tournament. 5. How much does it cost per player? The cost is around $325 per player which includes league fees, tournament fees and uniforms. 6. How long does the season last? Practices begin in November with games beginning in December and ending in mid to late February. Some teams may play a late tournament in March. 6. Where do the teams play and practice? Different schools in Hilliard offer gym time for the teams to practice and play games. When traveling to other communities the teams generally play at their community schools. This may include Field Houses and other comparably facilities. 7. Is this an AAU team? No, we do not play in AAU leagues or tournaments. The teams may choose to participate in an AAU season, but this league is not AAU affiliated. 8. Does everyone get the same playing time? Not necessarily. Like most travel sports playing time is earned and equal playing time is not guaranteed. However it is our goal to have all the players grow and develop thru game situations. |
